Born Krystal Lashae, a 100% pure Taurean, to gloriously Southern, beautiful, Black and ambitious parents, was raised in frosty Upstate NY in a very musical household. Mom was Classic R&B and Dad was Classic Rock. Krystal was certainly a product of her early musical environment. As her appreciation for Mom & Dad’s tastes grew and as life experiences happened, an eclectic fusion of sounds was the bedrock of her musical influences, which expanded even beyond that time & space. Krystal credits her earliest musical influences to artists such as Teena Marie, Chaka Khan and Prince, as well as the classic Rock and Pop bands of the 70s and 80s and, of course, the pioneering sounds of Hip-hop.

Krystal emerged into this lifetime dancing, singing and performing. She remembers writing her very first song when she was only 4 years old called “What You Gonna Do When I’m Gone” and singing it into a tape recorder, improv style, with all of the emotion and conviction of a grown woman who knew what the hell she was taking about. She and her sister wrote a song called “People” when they were in elementary school. Sister on alto, Krystal on soprano and both on an old school keyboard, it had all of the interesting chord changes and verses that could make it just as relevant today as it was when they wrote and performed it for their Grandmother. The creativity was gifted from the divine. She continued in the performing arts throughout her childhood and continued to discover musical sounds that shaped her spiritual, sexual and socio-political beliefs. What evolved was a true Bohemian.

Life happened. Krystal put her musical dreams in the background as she earned a BA degree from Syracuse U and moved to Florida to pursue a professional career in business management and marketing. Her singing, songwriting and dancing was never put too far upon the shelf, as she continued to write, dance, and be creatively inspired by samples and resurrecting the sounds that she grew up on.

After years of closet creativity, she met her Brooklynite soulmate, who bared shockingly similar creative tastes and life philosophies. Another true Bohemian. He not only inspired her to push the boundaries in her professional career, but also to bring her creative arts back into the forefront. One day, he cracked into her old computer. A rebirth of old ideals and personal evolution combined with his other-worldly music production, gave birth to the convergent sounds of Krystal Klear. Now, they can’t be stopped and they won’t be stopped.

Krystal Klear is produced by and featured on the 12 Tribes Musik label, and she records at 12 Tribes Musik’s “The Dojo” studios based in South Florida.
